Sticks and stones won’t break my bones but words will sometimes kill me!...

A text message dubbed “”the killer text” was sent to various people in the South of Egypt. The killer text was reportedly sent from an unknown foreign country and is reported to lead to brain haemorrhage and then death. The one-recorded case of the killer text is that of a man in Malawi in South Cairo who read the text message, started vomiting blood and then died of a vicious stroke. Eyewitnesses say that the man killed fell over with a look of severe distress or shock before dying.

BBC SCHOOL REPORT DAY - THURSDAY 26TH MARCH 2009

BBC Newsday 26th March 2009
First Hour - It’s our first meeting of the morning and we’re all gearing up to go. We’ve got all the morning papers, and we’ve picked all of our stories. We have our pens, notebooks and newsroom badges so no one can say that we don’t look like professionals! We now have a total of eleven stories with four of them related to our school. Our editor- in chief; Miss Bennett wrote them all up on the whiteboard and approved them. It’s almost four hours until broadcast but we’re all feeling the pressure.

Hour Two - It’s our second hour now, and we’ve all got down to work. We each have our separate stories and we’re all coming together as a news team. Three people have been assigned to our main story and people have broken off into groups to work on different stories. People are starting to film and write articles, scripts are being written and interviews are being prepared. Time seems to be going quicker than usual and we’re all feeling the pressure. We’re ready to roll !

It’s our third hour now, and we’ve all got down to work. We’re now finalising our stories and most people have gone out to film or to interview people. Most of the teachers are giving interviews and most of our news crew are out and about in the school. We’ve only got two hours left and everyone can hear the clock ticking.

We’re almost ready to go live!
We’re into the fourth hour now, and everyone’s almost done! There’s just a final bit of editing and cutting together to do. There’s a small group doing interviews of everyone about the news process. Interviews are being written up, articles being printed and the last few people are filming their last shots.

We all can’t believe there’s only an hour to go!

We’re in our last hour! Everyone is finished with their editing and the final pieces are being put on the website. Everyone is either proofreading their articles or admiring our handiwork! After many hours of hard work, it’s nice to see everything in place.

We’re online!
